Fred Olen Ray's "Deep Space" is an obvious "Alien" ripoff. And a fun one at that!

The late, great character actor Charles Napier, a favourite of filmmakers Jonathan Demme and Russ Meyer, here has one of his rare leading roles. He plays Ian McLemore, your standard-issue rule-breaking, maverick police detective.

The filmmakers couldn't be bothered to give us a complete story, but they nailed the trendy stuff: strong women, weak men, interracial sex, lesbian romance, and of course, foul language. Amazon Prime Video changed the title to "Space Force: Battlefront" probably to sidestep the bad reviews.
